Brauron. The Doric stoa, western third. The columns and entablature of this end of the stoa have been restored in order to allow us to appreciate the architecture better. Two things can be noted in this photo. First, the extra wide spacing of the columns. This tells us that the architects were concerned with visibility and making it easier for people to move between the columns. Second, since the stoa had wings on both the west and east, the architect had to worry about the how to make the columns, triglyphs, and metopes fit together at the corners. Photo 1 of 3. View from the south. May 31, 2002.
