The Kerameikos. The area was filled with varous grave precincts. Just to the right of center near the middle of the photo, you can see a mound of brownish earth. This is the "Rundbau", a grave tumulus that was in use for hundreds of year, from the early 7th until the 4th century B.C.). Beyond the Rundbau is the South Hill, another grave tumulus. View from the northeast.
