The Kerameikos. The Dexileos Monument. Cenotaph (empty grave) for Dexileos, the son of Lysanias of Thorikos. Dexileos was one of 5 knights who died at Corinth in 394 B.C. His remains were buried at public expense in the Demosion Sema, but his family erected a private tombstone here as well. An inscription below the relief record the both the date of his birth (414/3 B.C.) and of his death (394 B.C.). This is a cement copy of the original relief (now in the Kerameikos museum).
