Kerameikos

Caption:
The Kerameikos. The grave precinct of Koroibos of Melite on the northern side of the Street of the Tombs. Grave relief of Hegeso, who is shown seated. The relief dates to the late 5th century B.C., and so is earlier than the other graves in the precinct. It seems that Hegeso was originally buried elsewhere, and the relief was brought here at later period. We do not know why. For example, was Hegeso related to the family of Koroibos?. View from the south.
