Philopappos Monument (Tomb of Caius Julius Antiochos Philopappos). Built between 114 and 116 A.D. You can see 2 Corinthian pilasters on this side of the wall. The sarcophagus containg the remains of Philopappos would have stood between these 2 pilasters. You can also see here how the superstructure of the tomb was constructed out of Pentetlic marble, while the foundations were made out less expensive limestone. Photo taken June 12, 2002.
