[The verb] ἀλεαίνειν [comes] from us gathering together [ἀολλίζεσθαι ] during the days. And in Athens [the] Heliaia was a lawcourt, [named] from the gathering together of the men [involved]. But others [sc. derive the term] from ἀλεαίνειν , which is to heat and to melt. Some, though, [derive it] from the exhalation which is produced from the mouth on to the fingers; this is called αὔειν ["to blow"] and ἄζειν ["to sigh"] by imitation of the sound that [comes] out of the mouth.[2]
