Δαμάσκιος: ὡς δὲ ἑνὶ λόγῳ τὸ πᾶν συλλαβεῖν, ὅπερ ἔφη ὁ Πυθαγόρας ὁμοιότατον ἔχειν τῷ θεῷ τὸν ἄνθρωπον, τοῦτο σαφῶς ἐπὶ τῶν ἔργων αὐτὸς ἐπεδείκνυτο, τὴν ἀγαθοεργὸν προθυμίαν καὶ τὴν ἐς πάντας ἐπεκτεινομένην εὐεργεσίαν, μάλιστα μὲν τὴν ἀναγωγὴν τῶν ψυχῶν ἀπὸ τῆς κάτω βριθούσης παντοίας κακίας: ἔπειτα καὶ τὴν σωτήριον τῶν σωμάτων ἐκ τῆς ἀδίκου ἢ ἀνοσίου ταλαιπωρίας: τὸ δ' αὖ τρίτον, ἐπεμελεῖτο τῶν ἔξω πραγμάτων, ὅση δύναμις.
