The Attic writers [say] ἀνύτειν for that which we [call] ἀνύειν , but ἁνύειν [is] to hasten, with the first letter aspirated. Also [sc. attestedb is] ἀνύτουσι , they achieve, they accomplish [ἀνύουσι ]. And Homer [uses] ἀνύειν like we do: "I do not accomplish [anything by] being envious."[1]
