Epic forms are ἀπήμβροτε (Aeolic) and ἀφάμαρτεν (Ionic, without augment). (The form given here is anomalous, since it shows Aeolic initial psilosis with an Ionic treatment of the original vocalic r; it is attested only here.) Adler draws attention to Hesychius' entry on ἀπήμβροτε (quoted, according to Latte ad loc., from Homer, Iliad 15.521), likewise glossed with ἀπέτυχεν .
