Also [sc. attestes is] ἀπόστολος , the man sent out with an army in preparation for war.
"Shattering some of the boats with their dispatches".[2] That is, with their discharges.
Also [sc. attested is] ἀποστελλόμενοι ["dispatched-out men"]: not only those sent out on the basis of orders of dismissal, but also those who had been dismissed and were intending to go abroad were called 'dispatched-out'.
Also[2] [sc. attested are] ἀποστολεῖς , the men assigned to the sending-out of triremes. But ἀπόστολοι [are] the sendings-out of the ships. So Demosthenes, both in the [speech] Against Ktesiphon and in the First Philippic.[4]
