Ἀγύρτης: ὁ ἀλαζὼν καὶ ἀπατεών. τὸ δὲ ἀγείρειν καὶ τὸ περιαγείρειν, τὸ περιϊέναι καὶ περινοστεῖν ἐπὶ νίκῃ ἤ τινι ἑτέρῳ τοιούτῳ σεμνύνειν. ὁ δὲ ἀγύρτης καὶ κυβευτικοῦ βόλου ὄνομά ἐστιν. ἐμέμφετο αὐτοῦ τὸ περὶ τὰς μαντείας ἐπτοημένον καὶ βουλόμενον ἀεὶ τοῖς ἀγύρταις ἐπιτρέπειν τὰ οἰκεῖα πράγματα. καὶ Ἀγυρτικὰ, χυδαῖα ψεύσματα. καὶ Ἀγυρτώδη, συρφετώδη.
