Translation: Of Prusa, [or?] of Nicomedia, a soldier, who had campaigned under the Emperor Constantine[1] in Scythia by the Istros.[2] This man wrote a book on farriery and a physical [treatise] about the same animals;[3] and other things. Cimon the Athenian also wrote a marvellous book on the inspection of horses.[4]
Greek Original:Ἄψυρτος, Προυσαεὺς, Νικομηδεὺς, στρατιώτης, στρατευσάμενος ἐπὶ Κωνσταντίνου τοῦ βασιλέως ἐν Σκυθίᾳ παρὰ τὸν Ἴστρον. ἱππιατρικὸν βιβλίον οὗτος ἔγραψεν καὶ φυσικὸν περὶ τῶν αὐτῶν ἀλόγων: καὶ ἕτερα. ἔγραψε καὶ Κίμων Ἀθηναῖος ἱπποσκοπικὸν βιβλίον θαυμάσιον.
