Denominative verb from ἄελπτος ; occurs only in the participle.
[1] Same glossing in Hesychius and Etym.Magn. 20.23. Latte in his Hesychius edition regards the participle as coming from the source that the Suda goes on to quote (see next note); however, it also occurs in Homer, Iliad 7.310, where a scholiast glossed it with οὐκ ἐλπίζοντες .
