Notes:
The name is derived from the nymph Brettia; so Stephanus of Byzantium s.v. See also Strabo 12.8.9.
Abrettene lay between the Rhyndakos and Makestos rivers, so was in Asian Mysia (modern Turkey) not Moesia (along the Danube), which was often rendered as Mysia (mu 1472).
