Αἴγειρος: ἡ λεύκη. εἶδος φυτοῦ. Αἰγείρου θέα: αἴγειρος ἦν Ἀθήνησι πλησίον τοῦ ἱεροῦ: ἔνθα πρὶν γενέσθαι θέατρον, τὰ ἰκρία ἐπήγνυον. ἀφ' ἧς αἰγείρου οἱ μὴ ἔχοντες τόπον ἐθεώρουν. Αἴγιρος δὲ ὄνομα πόλεως.
