Headword: Αἴγλης Χάριτες
Adler number: alphaiota,66
Translated headword: Graces of Aigle
Vetting Status: low
Translation:
They plausibly traced the lineage of the Graces; for Helios is also from Aigle, since he seems [to make] the Graces be bright.
Note:
For the Graces, usually three in number, cf. chi 123, and generally OCD(3) s.v. Charites. One of them is Aglaia, 'Radiance', which is also the sense of Aigle -- referring especially to the light of the sun (or moon). It would appear that the genealogists mentioned here have not merely personified Aigle but made her the mother of the Graces and of Helios.
