Headword: Βαβάκινος
Adler number: beta,3
Translated headword: babakinos, bakinon
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
A kind of pot.
Greek Original:
Βαβάκινος: εἶδος χύτρας.
Note:
A very similar entry at Hesychius beta4 presents this word as βαβάκινον , either a neuter variant to the (presumably) m./f. nom. sing. of the headword here, or the accusative case of the same word. If Latte's restoration is correct, Hesychius also records another form of the word: βάκινον , which Latte (1.501) associates with bacchinon, attested for the name of a vessel (similar to a patera) in Late Latin, and (allegedly) persisting in the Italian bacino ('basin'). Adler also cites Lexicon Ambrosianum 19.
