Translation: The spokes of the wheel. A spoke is the part that is affixed to the hole of a wheel; and it is thus called the nave of the wheel. It is pronounced with recessive accent; for disyllabic [nouns] ending in the vowel eta after omicron (of those that begin with an aspirate) are given a recessive accent, e.g. χνόη ["nave"], φθόη ["decay"], χλόη ["sprout"].[1] But the [word] πνοή ["breath"] does not have aspiration.[2]
