An Athenian festival, celebrated on the last day of [the month] Pyanepsion,[1] for craftsmen in general and bronze-smiths in particular, as Apollonius says.[2] But Phanodemus maintains that the festival is celebrated not for Athena but for Hephaestus.[3]

Χαλκεῖα: ἑορτὴ παρ' Ἀθηναίοις, ἀγομένη Πυανεψιῶνος ἕνῃ καὶ νέᾳ, χειρώναξι κοινή, μάλιστα δὲ χαλκεῦσιν, ὥς φησιν Ἀπολλώνιος. Φανόδημος δέ φησιν οὐκ Ἀθηνᾷ ἄγεσθαι τὴν ἑορτήν, ἀλλ' Ἡφαίστῳ.
