Translation: To make money [χρήματα ]. But if someone should say the word in the active voice, χρηματίζει , it no longer means the same thing, but [it means] "to conduct business"; as we say, "the council and the people are conducting business", like "[he] is devoted to business matters". From [this verb comes] χρήματα ["affairs"], [meaning] business.
Greek Original:Χρηματίζεσθαι: χρήματα πράττεσθαι. ἐὰν δέ τις εἴπῃ τὴν λέξιν ἐνεργητικῶς χρηματίζει, οὐκέτι τὸ αὐτὸ δηλοῖ, ἀλλὰ τὸ πράγμασι χρῆσθαι: οἷον φαμέν, χρηματίζει ἡ βουλὴ καὶ ὁ δῆμος: οἷον πράγμασι σχολάζει. ἀφ' οὗ χρήματα, τὰ πράγματα.
