Quoted directly from Herodotus 1.18.1 (Web address 1), an excerpt of a longer quotation in gamma 472. The same sentence is also excerpted at tau 1084 (s.v. τρώματα ). This entry is absent from mss TVF, but the equivalent entry at tau 1084 has a rather different manuscript tradition.
