LSJ considers this term as a
falsa lectio for
δασπλῆτις , horrid, frightful (see web address 1). It occurs in
Lycophron, Alexandra 1452, where the writer describes
νάπας (valleys) which he qualifies as
δυσπλήτιδας .
Tzetzes, in the scholion, explains that valleys
δυσπλήτιδες are “difficult to reach” (
αἱ δυσκόλως πληττομέναι ), while those
δασπλήτιδας are “terrifying” (
καταπλήκται ).
