Headword: Δαρετίου
Adler number: delta,71
Translated headword: Daretian
Vetting Status: low
Translation:
"[I say Gelo, Hiero, Polyzelus and Thrasybulus] dedicated a tripod of a hundred litrae and fifty talents' [weight] of Daretian gold, the tithe of a tithe."
Greek Original:
Δαρετίου: τὸν τρίποδ' ἀνθέμεναι ἐξ ἑκατὸν λιτρῶν καὶ πεντήκοντα ταλάντων Δαρετίου χρυσοῦ τὰς δεκάτας δεκάταν.
Notes:
The gloss is from the Greek Anthology, 6.214.2-4. The headword Daretiou is in error for Damaretiou, "Damaretian", a coin first struck (according to Diodorus Siculus 11.26.3) by Damarete, the wife of Gelo (gamma 113).
For litrae see lambda 623.
