Attic [form]: for there was a common [koine] [imperative] from πίπλημι , πίπλαθι , like ἵσταθι . There is also something similar in the Poet: "Cyclops, take [τῆ ], drink wine."[1] For in [verbs] ending with -μι , Attic-speakers do not turn the μ into θ in the imperatives or shorten the stem vowel as the common dialect [koine] does: ἵστημι , ἵσταθι , but they [say] ἵστη ; [also] πίπλημι, πίπλαθι . But the Attic-speakers drop the -μι completely, saying πίπλη and ἐμπίπλη . Thus also from τῆμι [comes] τῆ , meaning "take."
