Headword: Ἐγκομβώσασθαι
Adler number: epsilon,106
Translated headword: bundle oneself up[1]
Vetting Status: low
Translation:
Apollodoros in Karystian Deserters[2] [writes]: "folding my tunic double over me, I bundled myself up." Epicharmos [writes]: "now if indeed that he has bundled himself up well..."[3] [He writes this] in Amykos.[4]
Notes:
[1] The headword, unglossed, is aorist infinitive of the verb ἐγκομβόομαι .
[2] So the MSS. Without doubt Ἀπολλόδωρος Καρυστίοις Ἀπολιποῦσι should read Ἀπολλόδωρος Καρυστίος Ἀπολιποῦσι ("Apollodoros of Karystos in Deserters"). What follows is Apollodoros fr.4 Kock.
[3] Epicharmos fr.7 Kaibel.
[4] Ms A has "in Amikos" and Mss GIT the obscure "Amykon", but for Epicharmos' Amykos (a personal name?) cf. kappa 2603.
