Having fallen in [sc. to prison].
Greek Original:
Ἐναλόντες: ἐμπεσόντες.
Notes:
Aorist participle (nominative masculine plural) of the verb ἐναλίσκομαι , with passive meaning. Silimarly glossed in other lexica; and cf. also Hesychius, Lexicon epsilon2635, glossing the singular ἐναλόντα as συλληφθέντα, κρατηθέντα .
The gloss is the aorist active participle, also in the masculine nominative plural of the verb ἐμπίπτω , literally “I fall in/into”. This verb is often applied by orators to the meaning of “be thrown into prison”: see e.g. Dinarchus 2.9, Demosthenes 25.60 εἰς δεσμωτήριον . It can be used absolutely (Lucian, Toxaris 28).
