Εὐνάπιος περὶ Καρίνου φησίν: ἀλλ' ἦν ἐγκύκλιον αὐτῷ καὶ πρόχειρον τὸ τὰ τοιαῦτα ἁμαρ- τάνειν. τουτέστιν εἰς παῖδας ὑβρίζειν. οἱ δὲ ἀξιώματος ἀντιποιούμενοι τὴν ἐγκύκλιον ἐπαιδεύοντο παιδείαν. ἡ δὲ ἐγκύκλιος παιδεία διὰ πάσης ἐχώρει παιδεύσεως καὶ ῥυθμοῦ καὶ παντὸς κινήματος.

[2] From the scholia to Aristophanes, Knights 189, where education is the topic. The terms ῥυθμός and κίνημα seem as if they might be technical here; in any event, no such education existed in the Athens of Aristophanes' day.
