Headword: Ἐπιστρεφέως
Adler number: epsilon,2639
Translated headword: intently
Vetting Status: low
Translation:
Meaning carefully. In Herodotus [this headword] also [means] deceitfully.
Greek Original:
Ἐπιστρεφέως: ἀντὶ τοῦ ἐπιμελῶς. παρὰ Ἡροδότῳ καὶ ἀπατητικῶς.
Note:
Not really. In Herodotus this adverb occurs only at 1.30.3 (Croesus asks ἐπιστρεφέως why Solon consider Tellos [tau 284] so fortunate). But the Suda is merely repeating the strange glossae in Herodotum on that passage.
Keywords: definition; dialects, grammar, and etymology; historiography
