The present headword is glossed by Hesychius as ἰοῦγον , i.e. Latin iugum, a land-measurement. It might be a variant spelling of ἔγγαιον , which itself has the variant ἔγγειον (epsilon 55), although this word does not seem to be attested for a measurement.
