Sophocles [writes]: "[Odysseus] 'I see that we who are alive are nothing but images or an insubstantial shadow.' [Athena] 'Therefore seeing such matters, do not say any insolent word against the gods, nor assume any swollen pride, if you are weightier than someone in strength of hand or depth of wealth. A day bends and brings back all human affairs. But the gods love sensible men and hate the evil.'"[2]
