Headword: Ἠάριζον
Adler number: eta,12
Translated headword: they were springing
Vetting Status: low
Translation:
they were discussing the subject of spring.
Greek Original:
Ἠάριζον: τὸ τοῦ ἔαρος ἔλεγον.
Note:
For the verb ἐαρίζω , cognate with the noun ἔαρ (epsilon 10) meaning "spring," see generally LSJ s.v. The present headword is its imperfect active, either third person plural or (less likely) first personal singular. Either way, it is attested only in lexica and grammars, which are presumably quoting it from an unidentifiable source. Besides pseudo-Zonaras, where the entry is exactly like the one here, see Georgius Choeroboscus, de spiritibus 199.31: 'ἠάριζον , meaning they were talking about spring.' Here, therefore, is a fourth meaning to add to the three in LSJ.
