Also "to have been of age for two years" is said whenever the sons of heiresses seem to have become ready to inherit their father's estate.
Isaeus says: "We consider it necessary that the closest male relative live with her and that the fortune meanwhile should belong to the heiress, but that, whenever the sons have been of age for two years, they should take control of it."[3]
Ἡβήσαντες: ἀκμάσαντες. Εὐνάπιος: οἱ δὲ παῖδες ἡβήσαντες καὶ γενόμενοι θυμοῦ καὶ χειρῶν κύριοι. καὶ Ἐπὶ διετὲς ἡβῆσαι λέγεται ὅταν οἱ ἐπικλήρων υἱεῖς δοκῶσι γεγενῆσθαι ἁρμόδιοι τὰ πατρῷα παραλαμβάνειν. Ἰσαῖός φησιν: ἐνηγόμεθα μὲν ἐκείνῃ μὲν τὸν ἐγγυτάτω γένους δεῖ συνοικεῖν, τὰ δὲ χρήματα τέως μὲν τῆς ἐπικλήρου εἶναι: ἐπειδὰν δὲ παῖδες ἐπὶ διετὲς ἡβῶσιν, ἐκείνους αὐτῶν κρατεῖν.

ἡβήσαντες is a sigmatic aorist active participle from
ἡβάω . Compare
