Aristophanes in
Frogs [writes]: "dancing-girls youthful and freshly plucked". He leaves out "[as to] their hair." For marriageable young women used to pluck out their [sc. pubic] hair.
Ἡβυλλιῶσαι: ἀκμάζουσαι τὴν ἡλικίαν. Ἀριστοφάνης Βατράχοις: ὀρχηστρίδες ἡβυλλιῶσαι κἄρτι παρατετιλμέναι. λείπει τὰς τρίχας. αἱ γὰρ μελλόνυμφοι ἔτιλλον τὰς τρίχας.
