Dry land, as being in some way unlimited [apeiros]. The earth is improperly called ἤπειρος in the poets, but properly [ἤπειρος is the land] which extends into unlimited [territory], as Euripides [writes]: "sending out a mainland foot into unlimited [space]."[1]
