Translation:
[Healing] and relieving are different. For some diseases are treated with temporary treatments, which is relieving; but others are fully treated, which is healing. So Sophocles [writes] in Electra: "whence would you find relief for my sufferings, for which it is not possible to see a cure?" That is, in no manner do our [troubles] have a better outcome.

Ἴασις καὶ ἄρηξις διαφέρει. τῶν γὰρ νοσημάτων, τὰ μὲν θεραπεύεται προσκαίροις θεραπείαις, ὅπερ ἐστὶν ἄρηξις: τὰ δὲ θεραπεύεται παντελῶς, ὅπερ ἐστὶν ἴασις. φησὶν οὖν Σοφοκλῆς ἐν Ἠλέκτρᾳ: πόθεν δ' ἂν εὕροις τῶν ἐμῶν σὺ πημάτων ἄρηξιν, οἷς ἴασις οὐκ ἔνεστιν ἰδεῖν; τουτέστι κατ' οὐδένα τρόπον προκόπτει τὰ ἡμέτερα ἐπὶ τὸ βέλτιον.
