A prize for victory [sc. in athletes].
At the biennial Isthmian Games, held near Corinth; see
iota 638, and generally OCD(3) p.772. The crowns awarded there were of dry celery during the classical period but of pine earlier (and again later). There is a lavish and learned discussion of this in book 5 of the
