Aristophanes, Lysistrata 998 with scholion; cf. omicroniota 158. The scholiast is aiming to explain two things: the Doric-dialect noun ἀρχά , here glossed with ἀρχή (but NB modern editions follow Hermann in printing the verb ἆρχε ); and the parenthetical οἴω glossed with οἴομαι . The name Lampito, chosen by Aristophanes for his chief Spartan character in the play, was also that of several real-life women, notably one of the current Spartan queen mothers (widow of King Archidamus, mother of King Agis).
