Μηχανορράφος: ἐπινοητὴς κακῶν, κατασκευαστής. τὰ φαῦλα μηχανώμενος. ὑφεὶς μάγον τοιόνδε μηχανορράφον. Σοφοκλῆς φησι. καὶ αὖθις: ἐγὼ μὲν οὖν καὶ ταῦτα καὶ τὰ πάντ' ἀεὶ φάσκοιμ' ἂν ἀνθρώποισι μηχανᾶν θεούς.
