Simeon Metaphrastes, Life of St. Euthymius, PG 114.721b (reading μαλώαν ). The rare word also occurs in Cyril's Life of St. Euthymius; Lampe s.v. suggests "wild fruit, wild berries" or "fruit tree or shrub."
This entry is lacking from manuscripts A and F (but added in the margin of A); Adler indicates it as an interpolation.
