['lamb'] and 'lamb-bringer'. Isaeus in the [speech] In Reply to Stratokles says: "a lamb appeared".[1] It is a sacrifice which those who were introducing their sons to their fellow phatry-members used to provide for them. That is how the offerings acquired the name "lamb".

Μεῖον. καὶ Μειαγωγός. Ἰσαῖος ἐν τῷ πρὸς Στρατοκλέα φησί: παρέστη μεῖον. θῦμα δέ ἐστιν, ὃ τοῖς φράτορσι παρεῖχον οἱ τοὺς παῖδας εἰσάγοντες εἰς τούτους. ὅθεν τὰ μὲν ἱερεῖα μεῖον προσηγορεύθη.
