Headword: Ὀγκυλώμενος
Adler number: omicron,25
Translated headword: swollen
Vetting Status: low
Translation:
[sc. He who is] arrogant.
Greek Original:
Ὀγκυλώμενος: ὑπερήφανος.
Notes:
Masculine nominative singular, perfect participle, as if from ὀγκυλόομαι , apparently a variant of ὀγκύλλομαι (for which see omicron 24). The accent should be on the epsilon.
Similarly glossed in Photius (spelled ὠγκυλωμένος ) and the Lexica Segueriana; evidently quoted from somewhere. Erotian (Collection of Hipppocratic Words) reports from Hippocrates the phrase ὀγκυλωμένη κοιλία "swollen belly."
