Ὀβελός: καὶ Ὀβελίσκος, ἡ σούβλα. Ξενοφῶν: ἐπάταξεν ἔνδον βουπόρῳ τις ὀβελίσκῳ διαμπερὲς τὸν μηρὸν τοῦ ἐγγυτάτω. καὶ παροιμία: Τὸ θερμὸν τοῦ ὀβελοῦ. ἐπὶ τῶν τὰ χείρονα ἀντὶ τῶν κρειττόνων αἱρουμένων.
