Aelian, Varia Historia 8.18. Temesa, in the toe-end of Italy, had a shrine in honour of the hero Polites (or Alybas), friend of
Odysseus. His presence there was considered malign and the locals collected tribute for him until (in the early C5 BCE) the Olympic boxer Euthymos put a stop to this.
