Οἱ μὲν γὰρ οὐκ ἔτ' εἰσίν, οἱ δ' ὄντες κακοί: ἐπὶ τῶν διὰ σπάνιν ἐπιζητουμένων. Ἀριστοφάνης Βατράχοις εἰσάγει τὸν Διόνυσον Εὐριπίδην εἰς ᾅδου ἐπιζητοῦντα κατιέναι βούλεσθαι, λέγοντα, δέομαι ποιητοῦ δεξιοῦ: τὸν δὲ φάναι, οἱ μὲν γὰρ οὐκ ἔτ' εἰσίν, οἱ δ' ὄντες κακοί.
