Translation:
A comic poet,[1] ugly in appearance. He was prominent-headed, like a hoopoe, i.e. pointy-headed; a son of a sister of Aeschylus. But others maintain that his nickname was Briny, because of his being bitter; for brine is [an example of] bitterness. So [the word prokephalos] is applied to those with pointed heads.

Φιλοκλῆς, κωμῳδίας ποιητής, αἰσχροπρόσωπος. ἦν δὲ προκέ- φαλος, ὡς ἔποψ, ἤγουν ὀξυκέφαλος: Αἰσχύλου ἀδελφῆς υἱός. οἱ δὲ Ἁλμίωνα αὐτόν φασιν ἐπιθετικῶς, διὰ τὸ πικρὸν εἶναι: ἅλμη γὰρ ἡ πικρία. εἴρηται οὖν ἐπὶ τῶν ὀξυκεφάλων.
