Headword: Παλιναίρετα
Adler number: pi,98
Translated headword: rebuilt
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
Things which have been reconstructed, and as if cleaned up; but not new, or in sound condition.
Greek Original:
Παλιναίρετα: τὰ ἐπεσκευασμένα, καὶ οἷον ἐπίγναφα: οὐ καινὰ δέ, οὐδὲ ὑγιῆ.
Note:
Neuter plural of this adjective (LSJ entry at web address 1); also with the same or similar glossing in Photius and elsewhere, including Timaeus' Platonic Lexicon, where its appearance in Plato, Tim. 82E is mentioned. That passage is therefore a possible source of these entries, though given the gloss, Pindar fr.84 (παλιναίρετα οἰκοδομήματα ) is likelier: see under pi 99.
