To sing. Aristophanes [writes]: "and it shall be for the boys to recite [sc. poems about] those who are brave in war; and if anyone has been a coward, so that, ashamed, they do not dine."[1]
Greek Original:
Ῥαψῳδεῖν: ᾄδειν. Ἀριστοφάνης: ῥαψῳδεῖν ἔσται τοῖς παιδαρίοις τοὺς ἀνδρείους ἐν τῷ πολέμῳ: κεἴ τις δειλὸς γεγένηται, ἵνα μὴ δειπνῶσ' αἰσχυνόμενοι.
