Ῥέθος: πρόσωπον, ἐρύθημα, μέλος, σπλάγχνον. ἐνθάδε τῆς τρυφερᾶς μαλακὸν ῥέθος, ἐνθάδε κεῖται τρυγόνιον. Ὅμηρος: ψυχὴ δ' ἐκ ῥεθέων πταμένη ἄϊδόσδε βεβήκει. καὶ Ῥεθομαλίδαι, οἱ τρυφεροὶ τὴν σάρκα. λέγεται γὰρ καὶ ὅλον τὸ σῶμα ῥέθος. καὶ κλίνεται ῥέθους, πληθυντικὸν τὰ ῥέθη.
