Σάμβυκες: γένος μηχανήματος πολιορκητικοῦ, ὥς φησι Πολύβιος. περὶ δὲ τῆς κατασκευῆς αὐτοῦ γέγραπται ἐν τῷ Περὶ ἐκφράσεως.
Notes:
It bore the same name (or nickname) as a stringed musical instrument (sigma 73), and was specifically designed for scaling a wall where the approach was by water.
