Headword: Ταραξίας
Adler number: tau,114
Translated headword: turbulent
Vetting Status: high
Translation:
"[When he was expelled from Antioch] for being troublesome and turbulent he fell like a tempest or a hurricane on the church of the Alexandrians."
Greek Original:
Ταραξίας: ὁ δὲ ὡς ταραχώδης καὶ ταραξίας ἐπέσκηψε τῇ Ἀλεξανδρέων ἐκκλησίᾳ λαίλαπος δίκην ἢ θυέλλης.
Note:
The headword is a rare noun derived from the verb ταράσσω (tau 116). This excerpt from George the Monk (on Severus of Antioch) is quoted already at sigma 271. Here ἐκκλησίᾳ ('on the church') has replaced κουφότητι ('on the frivolity'). George's original also has στασιώδης ('factious') rather than ταραχώδης ('troublesome').
